Recollect is a progressive web app, so it keeps working when you lose your connection. You can read and edit your notes offline, and your changes sync automatically the next time you are online.

## Editing offline

Create and edit notes as usual while offline. Recollect saves your changes on your device and syncs them when your connection returns. Images you add while offline are queued and upload automatically once you are back online.

## Keeping a note available offline

If you have a large number of notes, Recollect may keep only your most recently used notes on the device to save space. When that happens, open a note and click **Keep on this device** in the footer to pin it, so it stays available offline. Pinned notes remain on your device until you unpin them. If all of your notes already fit on your device, this option does not appear because every note is available offline already.

## Install Recollect for the best offline experience

Installing Recollect as an app makes it faster to open offline and, on iPhone and iPad, is required for notifications. See [Install Recollect on your devices](/support/note-management/how-to-install-recollect-on-your-devices/) for the steps.
