You can add images to any note, and they sync across your devices. Images work offline too. If you add one while you are offline, it uploads automatically the next time you are online.

## Adding an image

There are a few ways to add an image to a note:

- Click **Image** in the toolbar **Insert** dropdown and choose a file.
- Type / on an empty line and select **Image**.
- Drag and drop an image file directly into the note.
- Copy an image and paste it into the note.

Recollect accepts common image formats such as JPG, PNG, GIF, and WebP, plus newer formats like AVIF and HEIC. Uploaded images are optimized and served from a fast CDN.

## Showing images in the notes list

By default, a note in the notes list shows a thumbnail of its images. To turn this on or off, click the gear icon and select **Settings**, open the **Appearance** tab, and toggle **Show thumbnail images**.
